Extra Long Jump Leads (6 metres) – the simple solution to a flat battery hassle
Let’s be honest, the only thing worse than your car not starting is realising your jump leads aren’t long enough to actually reach – especially if you’re wedged in a tight parking bay or your battery’s tucked away in the back of a big people carrier. That’s where these extra long, 6-metre jump leads are an absolute game changer.
Why bother with extra long jump leads?
Most jump leads you find on the market are only about two or three metres. That’s fine if you’re lucky enough to park nose-to-nose, but – as most of us know – real life isn’t always so convenient.
You’ve probably been there:
➡️ Trying to borrow a jump off a mate in a jam-packed car park, only to discover their cables just don’t stretch.
➡️ If you drive anything bigger than a little runabout – think family SUV, minibus, van, or even a camper – you’ll know batteries aren’t always easy to get at.
➡️ Or, you simply want a bit of breathing room, so you’re not faffing about bumper-to-bumper with someone else’s car.
➡️ With a proper pair of 6-metre jump leads, you’ve got the slack to park your cars however you like. No more awkward manoeuvring or dodgy stretches across the tarmac.
What sets our 6 metre jump leads apart?
We’re old hands at this – we know British weather, British roads, and the sort of vehicles we all drive.
✔️ Ours are made with chunky copper or copper-clad aluminium cable, so they actually give your battery the jolt it needs – even if you’re trying to coax a dead diesel back to life on a bitter January morning.
✔️ Not all jump leads are up to the job, especially for larger motors. Ours are available from 400A (ideal for your bog-standard car) right up to 800A for bigger vans and 4x4s. You won’t leave someone stranded with a flat battery and limp, thin cables.
✔️ The clamps are tough, nicely insulated, and colour-coded (so there’s no excuse for connecting them the wrong way around after a long day). They bite firmly onto terminals, even the fiddly ones.
✔️ Let’s face it – untangling cables in the pouring rain is nobody’s idea of fun. Ours are flexible, tangle-resistant, and don’t freeze solid when it’s chilly outside.
✔️ Every set comes in its own bag or case, so they’re not rolling about in the boot with the muddy footballs and stray shopping bags.
Top tips most people forget
Jump starting’s not rocket science, but a bit of know how goes a long way:
➡️ Before you do anything, check your car’s manual. Some motors (especially hybrids or anything fancy) have their own rules for jump starting.
➡️ It’s red to red (positive to positive), and for the negative, clamp onto a solid bit of metal well away from the battery – not the battery itself.
➡️ Once you’ve hooked up, let the working car tick over for a few minutes before you try starting the dead one.
➡️ When you’re done, take the leads off in the opposite order to how you put them on – just saves any accidental sparks or headaches.
➡️ If in doubt, ring for breakdown cover – better safe than sorry.
